It's frustrating that I cannot synchronize my Honor Band 5 ride activities from Huawei Health App to the Strava App. I prefer to use Strava because I can edit my ride details such as I can edit the title of the ride, add a description, and I can add photos which I cannot do in Huawei Health App. And ride details on the Huawei Health App are limited unlike in Strava.
I tried using Health Sync App but it's not working. According to the support who replied to my review, Health Sync App only works on Huawei devices with EMUI 8.1 (mine is EMUI 8) and higher, where I should see that I can choose Huawei Health as a source for the synchronization of steps/activities, weight, sleep and heart rate. But, gladly, I found this best ever solution for converting Huawei Health App activities and importing them to Strava, using the Hitrava Web App.
Hitrava converts health activities registered using a Honor or Huawei activity tracker or smart watch in the Huawei Health app into a file format that can be directly uploaded to Strava.
You can use Hitrava Web App to convert your Huawei health activities as Script or Web.
Since I don't know how to use the script method what I will be sharing with you is the online conversion or web app method. Here's how I converted my Huawei health activities by just following Hitrava Web's step-by-step instructions:
How to Request and Convert Your Data
Step 1 – Request your data in the Huawei Health app
- On your phone, open the Huawei Health app.
- Tap the ‘Me’ button in the lower right-hand corner of the main screen.
- Now tap on your account name on top of the screen.
- Tap on ‘Privacy Center’.
- Tap ‘Request Your Data’.
- Select ‘Health’ from the list and confirm your selection
- You are obliged to enter a password (your Huawei Health account password) to encrypt the requested data. You will need this password later in step 2 below.
- Follow any further the in-app instructions.
- Wait for the mail from Huawei to arrive with a link to download the data in a ZIP file. I requested my health activities data on June 5, 2021 and received the data on June 9, 2021.
Step 2 – Download and extract your requested data
- In the mail from Huawei, click on the link to download your data and follow the instructions.
- Open the downloaded Huawei Health ZIP file with a ZIP tool that supports the used encryption method (7-Zip is free and recommended, you can download it here).
- Extract the following file from the ZIP file using your password from step 1 above.
Step 3 – Convert your data with Hitrava Web
- Use the extracted Motion path detail data & description data.json file from the previous step in the web app to convert your activities data.
- Select the activities you want to convert. After selecting, click the Convert button.
- Download your converted activities by clicking the download button.
- Extract the files and you should see the files with .tcx extension. These are the ones you will upload to Strava.
How to Upload Your Huawei Health Activities to Strava
- Log in first with your Strava account.
- Go to the Upload and Sync Your Activities (click this to go immediately on the page as long as you are already logged in) page on Strava.
- Once logged in, click the ‘Choose Files’ button on the page and select the converted TCX files (with the .tcx extension, up to 25 at
once) to upload.
Your uploaded activities will not show heart rate or other health-related data.
Please allow access to health-related data in your settings to ensure your uploaded activities show heart rate or other health-related data.
You need to activate Health-Related Data by clicking the Allow Access button under the Data Permissions (click this to go immediately on the page) page if you want to show your heart rate. - Rename your uploaded activities (optional).
Hope this helps!
