I’ve been stuck for a week unable to update any of my apps because of a "Checking for Updates" error in the Google Play Store. At first, I figured it was just our spotty internet—the weather has been pretty rough here in the province lately.
But yesterday, I finally found the fix and wanted to share it in case you’re dealing with the same headache. If your Play Store is hanging, the best move is to clear the app's cache and data. Here is exactly how to do it on your Android phone:
1. On your Android phone go to your Settings
2. Tap on Apps & notifications (Permissions, Default apps)
3. Tap on Apps
4. Find the Google Play Store app and tap it
5. Tap on Storage
6. Tap on Clear Cache then Clear Data
7. You're done. Restart your phone and you should be able to update your applications now!
