How to Get Your Custom Facebook Page URL (Vanity URL)
![]() |
Are you setting up a presence on Facebook and wondering about the best way to do it? It can be a bit confusing with personal accounts and business pages.
Here's the main idea: A Facebook "Profile" is for personal use, like connecting with friends and family. A "Page," on the other hand, is designed for businesses, brands, or public figures. You need a Profile to even create a Page.
One big benefit of having a Facebook Page is getting a unique username. This makes it much simpler for people to find your Page when they search, and it gives you a shorter, custom web address (like https://web.facebook.com/awesome/ instead of a long one with numbers https://web.facebook/Awesome-228525344389217/). This shorter link is great for sharing!
However, there are rules for creating these custom usernames. We'll go over those guidelines next to help you choose the best one for your Page or Profile.
- You can only have one username for your Page or profile, and you can't have a username that is already being used.
- Usernames can only contain alphanumeric characters (A–Z, 0–9) and periods ("."). They can't contain generic terms or extensions (.com, .net).
- Usernames must be at least 5 characters long.
- Periods (".") and capitalization can't be used to differentiate usernames. For example, snooziebear14344 and snoozie.bear.14344 are all considered the same username.
- Usernames shouldn't impersonate someone else.
- Your username must adhere to the Facebook Terms.
Keep in mind that you must be an admin to create or change the username for a Page. See below table of what are the things you can do if you are an admin:
Role Powers | Admin | Editor | Moderator | Advertiser | Analyst |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Manage Page roles and settings | ✔ | ||||

If you’ve just recently created your Page you will not be able to immediately create a username. You will only be able to create once you have 25 Facebook page followers. Unlike in the personal account, you can create immediately.
Now to create your Facebook Page username follow the following:- Go to your Page and click the About section on the left side of your Page or just click the hyperlinked "Create Page @username" on your cover photo just below your Facebook Page Name.
- Click Create Page @Username.
- Enter a username. If the username you want is already taken or not approved, you'll need to choose a different one.
